Skills for Life Floyd

Skills for Life meets three times a month. Members are adults diagnosed with ASD. Skills for Life uses the clinically proven method of using neurotypical peers as role models for teaching social skills. Led by three professional educators, Tracey Koehler, Allison Odom, & Mary Kimbrough, the group provides social skill prompting in a variety of settings, such as bowling, eating out, playing games, and a once-a-year retreat. Skills for Life is a member-only group.

Skills For Life Give Back Projects
Our members are passionate about giving back, engaging in several annual activities to support our community. Twice a year, we volunteer at Bloom Closet at Restoration Rome, assisting foster children and families by packing essential supplies. Additionally, we donate much-needed items on each visit—recently, diapers and school supplies in June. During the holiday season, we organize two key events. At Open Door Home in Rome, we pack and wrap boxes filled with blankets, hygiene products, earbuds, candies, and other essentials for children. We also prepare candy jars used for table decorations and gifts during the Three Kings’ Celebration in January, benefiting marginalized Hispanic families. While these are our main focuses, we eagerly participate in other community-driven initiatives as they arise.
How Can I Help? Mentors are needed, and extra hands are always welcome. Download our form to volunteer to help.
