Garden Art Fundraising:  Thank you to everyone who helped with the Spring Art Market and the Cedar Valley Arts Festival.  At the Art Market we raised approx. $1200.  And although, we were rained out on Sunday in Cedartown, we made over $600! If accepted, we are planning to do Finster Fest, June 8-9 with set up Friday, June 7.  If you haven’t been able to help lately, please consider setting aside some time during this weekend.

Raise the Roof for DIGS fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, May 24:  Help is needed to get items for the auction.  We need a variety of things that will appeal to a wide number of people.  We are especially lacking in “higher end” items such as trips or electronic gadgets.  If you have ideas of places to approach for donations, please contact Charlie Schroeder so we don’t duplicate asking the same people. Also please help spread the word by distributing flyers you can print them from our news page. The more money we raise, the less we may have to borrow! We thank Berry student, Claire Horton for her help with our activities this year.  She will be graduating this month and will continue her studies at Spalding University, Louisville, KY.  Her last time with us will be at this month’s dance club. We wish her continued success!!! Claire, we’ll miss you.

The ‘Signing with Friends’ activity is going well. Julia is an excellent teacher (very patient, too!). If you can, please join us on any of the last two Thursdays of the month. Don’t be shy or embarrassed about only coming occasionally. Any signs you learn will help you communicate with our ‘adults’ who use sign to communicate.

This Friday night: Roman Roast on the River, Wing Eating Contest is a fundraiser for Camp GoodTimes (summer program for children with developmental disabilities). Our DIGS team of Noah, Ibn, Justin, Ben & Tom (alternate: Timothy) will be participating. That should be a sight to see!!! Cost for the event is $10 due to the concert that night.  For more information, please contact Tammy Bryant 706-234-0383 or tbryant [a] rfpra.com

Mary is reserving space for those who want to eat out before the formal dance to get together at Bella Roma, Saturday, May 18, 5:00-7:00 pm.  Please let her know if you want to attend: 706-767-4564 or stevemary1228 [a] gmail.com

Thank you to each of you for whatever you do to support DIGS. No matter what your contribution, large or small, it has taken all of us working together to build the awesome “family” we have.  We really do have something special and I, for one, am blessed each day!  I hope you feel the same.   Remember you can also find all of our activities on our events page, where you can also download the latests calendar. Help us spread the word by sharing our NEW and FRESH website with everyone! ~Barbara
